Happ's Electrical & Maintenance (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This notice explains how we process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
1. Who is responsible
Happ's Electrical & Maintenance (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website. Our information officer can be reached at info@happselectrical.co.za.
2. What we collect
- Details you give us in the quote form or by phone, WhatsApp or email: your name, contact number, email address, site address and a description of the work required.
- Technical information your browser sends automatically, such as device type, browser and approximate location, used only to keep the site working and secure.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect special personal information.
3. Why we process it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation.
- To carry out and invoice electrical and maintenance work you have asked for.
- To issue Certificates of Compliance and keep the records the law requires us to keep.
- To comply with legal, tax and safety obligations.
Our lawful bases are performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interest in running the business, compliance with the law, and your consent where you have given it.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (for example hosting, email and messaging providers), with regulators or auditors where a Certificate of Compliance requires it, and where the law compels disclosure. Operators are bound to process the information only on our instructions and to keep it secure.
5. Storage and security
Information is stored on secure, access-controlled systems. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards against loss, unlawful access and misuse. Some providers may store data outside South Africa; where that happens we use providers that offer a comparable level of protection as required by section 72 of POPIA.
6. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for up to 24 months. Job, invoice and Certificate of Compliance records are kept for the periods required by tax and electrical safety legislation (generally 5 years or longer where prescribed).
7. Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant or out of date.
- Object to processing, or withdraw consent, where processing relies on your consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) — complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
